Overview:
RAven, the company creation arm of RA Capital Management, is offering a paid internship opportunity to a PhD student or postdoctoral scientist to work with one of RAVen’s new portfolio companies.
The internship will mainly focus on scientific assessment of proteins and pathways of interest, scientific literature review, basic patent searching and competitive intelligence. The intern will be expected to prepare written materials (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) supporting their analyses and present their findings.
The internship is expected to require approximately 5-10 hours a week for a duration of 4 months. This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience in biotech company building and drug discovery.
Qualifications/Requirements:
All applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered:
– Must be a Postdoctoral scientist or a PhD student in at least their third year, conducting biomedical research at a top institution.
– Must be authorized to work the United States.
– Must be based in Massachusetts.
– Strong scientific acumen and curiosity, ability to navigate in biomedical fields such as molecular oncology, immuno-oncology, molecular and cell biology, biochemistry and pharmacology.
– Proficiency in using scientific databases (e.g. UniProt, DepMap, TCGA, etc.) is highly desirable.
– Basic understanding of the patenting and drug discovery process is helpful but not required.
– Excellent communication and written skills, proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
